What’s cooking?

You may, by now, have gathered that we’re quite into our food at EML. So much so that in 2007 we decided that what the office really needed was more cake, and so the Monday morning “Bake off” was launched. Each week, two EMLers went head to head to try and win the minds and stomachs of their co-workers by providing delicious cakes and baked goods for everyone to taste and vote on.

As the weeks progressed and various chocolate cakes, ginger cakes and banana loafs came to the table, airing century old family recipes, and in February this year Siobhan Gaffan was duly announced as the winner of the 1st ‘Mira Smith Bake-Off’ Award.

The competition was such a resounding success that we decided it needed to be continued – this time with a pastry-based theme to allow us to include the savoury-favourers. The competition has now reached the second round and we can no longer contain our excitement – we just feel this is too good not to share. So, as of Monday, we will be bringing you the pictures and comments from each week’s entries so you can share the fun without suffering the expanding waistline.

    Shame we can’t do “smellivision” so that the smell of baking draws people in like the supermarkets do to attract customers.
